Also, Forest Glen will be hosting its annual Spring Book Fair in Pod C during parent teacher conferences. The book fair will be open at 4:00pm-8:00pm. The Grand Event is back on Wednesday, February 21 from 7:30am-8:45am in the gym. Students can bring grandparent(s) or that special someone to the event! All students attending must be accompanied by an adult. Complimentary beverages provided! Please plan on attending our fair to help us put more books in the hands of our students at school and Forest Glen families at home, by connecting kids with books they want to read! All profit dollars earned from the book fair benefit Forest Glen by providing our students and teachers with opportunities to use those dollars to purchase books and build classroom libraries. Course descriptions and registration information will be available on March 14th, and parents and students will learn about band, chorus, and orchestra classes at Lineville. A selection must be made and the registration completed within two weeks. Parents who desire more information at this time are invited to visit the music class websites, which are linked to the Lineville home page: http://linevillehssd.weebly.com Attendance Matters Program The Milwaukee Bucks have partnered with Wendy's to offer the Attendance Matters Program. This program enables any student who achieves perfect classroom attendance during the month of February to receive a special complimentary ticket offer. Also, student attendees will receive a free kids meal at Wendy's and the opportunity to shoot a post-game free throw on the Bucks court during a game in March or April! The Forest Glen office will track student attendance and those students who achieve perfect attendance during the month of February will receive a ticket order form to be sent directly to the Milwaukee Bucks. Perfect attendance means a student has been in the classroom each school day in February from 8:45am-3:25pm. Importance of School Attendance! If your child will be absent due to an appointment, it is recommended that you attain an excuse from your provider for the date and time of the visit and return the excuse to the school office. This will ensure that the absence is noted as an excused absence or tardy. Appointment cards will NOT be accepted as an excuse.
Call to report your child's daily absence by calling the school's attendance line at 662-7990. NEW!! Report your child's absence online here: http://forestglenhssd.weebly.com/electronic-absence-form.html Monitor your child’s tardies and absences through the district website: http://powerschool.hssd.k12.wi.us/public/ Click here for more information about the importance of attendance from the State Superintendent's office. EMERGENCY CLOSINGS AND DELAYS
Inclement weather may necessitate the closing or delay of schools. If schools are closed this will also include the cancellation of extracurricular activities and the events in the community pool unless otherwise announced. Please listen to local radio or television stations for school closings or delays. Such weather may also deter students from going outside during the school day. Please be sure that students are dressed appropriately for the weather. In addition to local radio and television, weather conditions can be checked on-line at www.hssd.k12.wi.us. Have you changed phone numbers, email addresses, work information, etc? If so, the new year-round student information update process for parents is available online!

Referendum Update
The Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution on an operational referendum for the April 3, 2018 spring election ballot. This referendum differs from the April, 2017 referendum, in large part, because of the duration. The Board listened to the community through surveys and the Community Task Force Committee. The feedback was clear that the recurring nature of the April, 2017 referendum was not acceptable. The 5 year duration on the current referendum allows the district to address the immediate needs of class size, compensation, and facilities maintenance. As the Board works to address its financial challenges, we are committed to providing as much information as possible. For more information about the referendum, please visit www.hssd.k12.wi.us/referendum. If you have any questions for the Board of Education, please reach out to your board member listed in this article.
